Eight young people accused of stealing $50,000 worth of jewelry and video game systems during 20 home burglaries in Santee were arrested Thursday, a San Diego County sheriff's sergeant said.

Nicholas Curl and Steven Shay, both 21; Kelli Cannon, 19; and 18-year-olds Cole Ensign, Brian Shay and Taylor Tidmore were booked on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, possession of controlled substances for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia, said sheriff's Sgt. Tom Poulin.

Two juveniles arrested Thursday and three other minors arrested earlier were not identified because of their ages, he added.

They are suspects in 20 daytime break-ins at houses in northern Santee since June, Poulin said. All the suspects lived near where the burglaries took place, he said.

Stolen items were sold to East County pawn shops or Parkway Plaza shopping mall kiosks that buy gold, according to the sergeant.

During the raids, deputies found stolen property, a firearm, heroin and drug paraphernalia, he said.
