SAN DIEGO - Authorities said eight people were arrested at an overnight DUI/driver license checkpoint in the University Heights community in San Diego on charges of driving under the influence.
Officer Mark McCullough with the San Diego Police Department said one person was also jailed on suspicion of possession of stolen property and two juveniles were detained for curfew violations.
Six vehicles were impounded at or near the checkpoint, McCullough said.
The checkpoint in the 2100 block of El Cajon Boulevard ran from 10:50 p.m. Saturday through 3 a.m.
A total of 341 vehicles were screened.
McCullough said 15 motorists were given field sobriety tests.
