Suspected Santee Wife Killer Back In Court

Dailey Claims He's Innocent

A preliminary hearing began Monday for a man accused of killing his estranged wife. James Dailey James Dailey (pictured, left) pleaded innocent to a charge of murder. This week's hearing was scheduled to last for two days, during which time prosecutors plan to call about 40 witnesses. The 35-year-old man was arrested last February in Muncie, Ind. He was extradited to San Diego to face charges stemming from the alleged slaying of Guadalupe Dailey. Guadalupe Dailey Officials say that Dailey spoke to co-workers about killing his wife, who was in the process of divorcing him. Guadalupe Dailey (pictured, right) disappeared in 1997. She's presumed to have been murdered although her body hasn't been found. Witness Timothy Rowan Video Witness Describes Dailey's 'Rage' A witness at Monday's hearing described Dailey's state-of-mind in the months preceeding his wife's disappearance. "You could see the ... rage that he had about what was going on and the confusion that he was trying to deal with," Dailey's former co-worker, Timothy Rowan, said. Rowan (pictured, left) said that Dailey was angry and confused because he did not want his wife to divorce him. Authorities say that Dailey claims he was out on his boat when his wife disappeared. But prosecutors say that the boat wasn't even in running condition at the time. After the conclusion of this week's preliminary hearing, the judge will decide whether or not the case will go to trial. Dailey faces 15 years to life in prison if convicted. Previous Stories:
