SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego City Council has voted against a proposal to move a detox center to Pacific Beach, 10News reported. The council voted 6 to 2 against the plan, following an open forum Tuesday night in which both sides voiced their opinions.Residents opposed to the idea, saying the detox center would be placed too close to homes and schools.
The facility, run by Volunteers of America, has been forced to relocate to make room for condominium developments. The city council voted to give newly elected Councilman Kevin Faulconer, who represents the area, a chance to look into the matter and come up with an alternative solution.
