SD Firefighters Deliver Bikes To Kids Around City

Station 26 Spreads Christmas Cheer To Children In Need

It was a very special Christmas for some special children thanks to some San Diego firefighters, 10News reported.

With lights and sirens blaring, the crew of Station 26 delivered 20 brand new bicycles to kids around the city.

It was the idea of paramedic Brian Hubbell, who used his own money to buy the bikes.

The station's captain checked with local schools to identify children who were getting good grades and in need of holiday cheer.

Santa Claus sent 7-year-old Samuel a note to tell him about the delivery.

"Santa said, 'Sorry Sam, I couldn't make it to your house. I had a problem with my sled, but I'm going to send my friends from the fire department,'" said Samuel's mom, Christina Merinow.

Hubbell told 10News he is constantly giving.

"That's what I do for a living, I'm constantly giving. It's what I know and this is just another thing I can return back to the community," Hubbell said.

Some of the kids even got a few riding lessons along with their new bike. And of course each bicycle came with a helmet.
