Boy Accused Of Girl's Slaying Turns Himself In

Family Members Urge Boy To Turn Himself In

UPDATED: 4:41 pm PST December 16, 2005

A 15-year-old wanted in connection with a fatal shooting Sunday was arrested Friday in Norfolk, Va.

San Diego police say Ricardo "Rico" Flowers turned himself in to Norfolk officers after being urged to do so by family members.

Flowers allegedly shot Marchannae Johnson, of Murrieta, in the 4800 block of Logan Avenue about 4:15 a.m. Sunday, according to San Diego police.

Detectives believe Flowers missed his intended target -- gang rival.

Medics pronounced Johnson dead at Scripps Mercy Hospital less than an hour later.

Following the shooting, three of Johnson's companions ran away, but one girl stayed behind and gave a report of what had happened, said police Lt. Mike Hurley.
