ANAHEIM, Calif. -- A 35-pound gobbler "pardoned" by President Bush was the grand marshal in Thursday's Thanksgiving parade at Disneyland, where the "Happiest Turkey on Earth" will live out its days. The national Thanksgiving turkey, dubbed Marshmallow for its white feathers, was perched on the leading float under a banner proclaiming him "The Happiest Turkey on Earth." Disneyland and animal rights activists persuaded the White House to send the national turkey to Anaheim -- first class on United Airlines -- instead of to a farm outside of the capital, where other pardoned birds were sent in recent years. Marshmallow has a companion, Yam, who also was spared by the president in Tuesday's ceremony on the White House lawn. The 18-week-old turkeys will live behind the scenes at the theme park, in an enclosure at Santa's Reindeer Round-up in Frontierland.
