Five people were arrested at a checkpoint for drivers' sobriety and valid licenses, Chula Vista police said Sunday.

The checkpoint ran from 7 p.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of H Street, Chula Vista police officer Alicia Chudy said.

Out of 1,410 vehicles that came through the checkpoint, 825 were flagged for inspection. Thirteen drivers were examined closely, and five of those were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Additionally, one driver was cited and released for possession of marijuana. Four drivers were cited for driving on a suspended license and 15 people were driving without a driver's license.

A total of 21 cars were impounded, Chudy said.
