SAN DIEGO -- The cost of earthquake insurance is a step closer to becoming cheaper for most property owners, but not for everyone, 10News reported. The California Earthquake Authority has voted to cut insurance rates by more than 22 percent. The proposal must be still be approved by the state Department Of Insurance.
If the plan is put in place, most of the 600,000 insurance policies issued by the authority would decrease between $100 and $600 per year, but more than 90,000 policy holders would see an increase in rates, 10News reported.
