SAN DIEGO -- County health officials Tuesday advised employees of a North County casino -- and those who frequented the business during the first four months of the year -- to get tested for tuberculosis.Dr. Nancy Bowen, the county public health officer, said that a patron of Casino Pauma, 777 Pauma Reservation Road, was diagnosed and treated for infectious TB."We recommend that those who visited the casino between Jan. 1 and May 7 and were there 120 hours or more, contact their physician and request an evaluation that includes a TB skin test," Bowen said.
The casino will post signs with the warning, she said.TB symptoms include a persistent cough, fever, night sweats and unexplained weight loss, Bowen said. However, most people exposed to TB do not contract the disease, she said.If you would like more information, call the county TB control branch at (619) 692-8621.
