A jury of eight men and four women heard opening statements Tuesday in the trial of two San Diego city councilmen and two other men accused in a federal corruption case.

COUNCIL CORRUPTION

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Miller instructed the jury and then prosecutors gave their opening statements.

The trial is expected to last three months.

San Diego City Councilmen Ralph Inzunza and Michael Zucchet are accused of taking bribes from the owner of Cheetah's strip club in return for helping to repeal a city ordinance that prevents patrons from touching nude dancers.

Also on trial in the federal case are Las Vegas lobbyist Lance Malone and David Cowan, a former aide to the late Councilman Charles Lewis.
