There's a battle brewing between Carlsbad city officials and owners of a damaged Carlsbad condominium complex, 10News reported.
The Marbella Homeowner's Association and the city disagree over who's at fault for the sliding land that damaged the complex.
According to 10News, the Marbella Homeowner's Association is working to get the city to develop a plan to stop the slide, which it says began in February with a leaky fire hydrant.Residents and experts said the leaky fire hydrant problem caused another pipe to burst, forcing the ground to buckle and slide. However, the city's analysis blames heavy rain storms.Either way, there is imminent danger for residents.Residents said the land moves about 1.5 inches a day.Heavily-traveled La Costa Avenue sits just below the complex and could be at risk if any of the units move further down the hill. The homeowners have submitted a plan to the City of Carlsbad that gives a temporary fix to stop sliding.
