TYLER, Texas -- A young woman was abducted from a parking lot in east Texas while leaving work at a Wal-Mart. Police say she was apparently shoved into her own vehicle by a man who ran up behind her.
Megan Leann Holden, 19, of Henderson, Texas, was reported missing Thursday morning when she did not return home from her shift the evening before.
A surveillance tape shows the young woman getting into her truck. Officials say the suspect ran up behind her, shoved her, and the vehicle drove off. The surveillance tape shows a man in a long, dark coat, apparently the abductor, loitering around the front entrance to the store "for a good period of time," Martin said. He was also seen on tape about 90 minutes before the abduction, emerging from a bathroom and walking around inside the store. The pickup belonging to Holden has been recovered in southeastern Arizona. The man who was driving it is in the hospital in Wilcox, Ariz., being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in the shoulder. Cochise County sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas said he was shot early Friday by the manager of an RV park in Bowie, Ariz., during an alleged robbery attempt. Capas said the sheriff's office doesn't have any information regarding the kidnap victim, 19-year-old Megan Holden, who remains missing. She said that the FBI and authorities from Texas are on their way to Wilcox. Holden's abduction Wednesday night was captured on security videotapes at the Wal-Mart store where she works in Tyler, Texas. That's some 800 miles east of Wilcox. The FBI has joined the investigation, police said.
