CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Forty drivers were cited for allegedly talking on cell phones as part of a push by police in Chula Vista to nab distracted motorists.
Patrol officers set out from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday to catch drivers talking on their cell phones, according to Chula Vista police Officer Alicia Chudy.
One additional motorist was caught driving with a suspended license. His vehicle was impounded for 30 days, according to Chudy.
Chula Vista police received funding for the operation from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
