4 suspects sought in connection with Gaslamp fight that left Michael Beaver dead

SAN DIEGO - Police are searching for four people linked to a weekend assault in downtown San Diego that left a 25-year-old man dead.

Michael Beaver of Chula Vista got into an argument with the group for unknown reasons in the 500 block of F Street about 1 a.m. Sunday, according to San Diego police.

After exchanging hostile words with Beaver, three of the suspects -- two men and a woman -- pummeled him in the upper body, homicide Lt. Mike Hastings said. They then walked off along with the second woman, leaving Beaver unconscious on the sidewalk.

Medics took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Friends said Beaver was helping his older brother, who apparently had too much to drink, prior to the altercation.
