OCEANSIDE, Calif. - Police on Wednesday are searching for three men in connection with a violent home invasion in Oceanside.
According to police, four men wearing masks entered a home in the 700 block of North Clementine Street just before 7:30 p.m.
The men attacked a 22-year-old man who lives in the home and stabbed him in the back.
As that was happening, his 17-year -old brother came out of his room to see what was going on and he was hit in his ribs by the men, possibly with a baseball bat.
The stabbing victim was airlifted to a local hospital to be treated.
"None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening," said Leonard Cosby, who is with the Oceanside Police Department. "Our primary victim is 22, has a stab wound to the lower back area … appears to be non life-threatening. The other victim is 17 years old and he has some kind of blunt force trauma injury."
One possible suspect has been detained and taken in for questioning. He was pulled over in a car about a block away from the incident. Police are actively searching for the three other suspects involved.
At this time, investigators do not know why the suspects targeted the house or the two young men inside. Nothing was stolen.
Police say this kind of violent criminal behavior in this neighborhood is uncommon. They say they do not have reason to believe this is gang-related.
