SAN DIEGO - Four young men stand accused in the sexual assault and beating of a 15-year-old Rancho Penasquitos girl.
According to authorities, the girl said her attackers lured her to Rolling Hills Park, drugged her, sexually assaulted her and then brutally beat her.
A family friend told 10News that Dakota Savage, his brother Joshua, Brian Johnson and Justin Heinz -- all friends of the girl's older brother -- convinced the teen they would protect her if she went with them to the park.
"I heard she had bruises and just looked terrible," said Veronica Hodge.
Hodge and the alleged victim have a mutual friend. Hodge said the girl was so traumatized she left her high school.
The Savage brothers, who were high school football stars from Julian, remain in jail and await a bail review hearing.
Johnson and Heinz were released on bond and are scheduled to return to court next week.
The incident happened around Christmastime, but the four men were arrested last Thursday and arraigned Monday.
Investigators said they wanted to gather as much evidence and information before taking the four friends into custody.
"I am shocked to hear this and I have two daughters and I always worry about their safety," said Rancho Penasquitos resident John Goodman.
Goodman and others who live nearby wish they had known sooner about the alleged incident that took place just feet from his home.
