4 Hospitalized After National City Rollover Crash

Three men and one woman have been taken to the hospital with major trauma after a high-speed rollover crash in National City on Wednesday.

A driver was getting onto the northbound Interstate 5 in National City when his vehicle was hit by another vehicle at about 5 p.m., said Battalion Chief Larry Silva, who is with the National City Fire Department.Silva said the vehicles involved in the crash went off the freeway and landed on their sides in the 200 block of Roosevelt Avenue near Second Street.One of the vehicles in the crash struck another vehicle, but that collision was not major, according to Silva.It took firefighters about an hour to free the crash victims, including one who was trapped underneath a car.Two were transported to Scripps Mercy Hospital and two were taken to UCSD Medical Center. Silva said the victims' injuries were unknown but none were believed to be life-threatening.The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.More details about the incident will be posted as they become available.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
