Narcotics investigators seized 12 marijuana plants found in the garage of an Ocean Beach home after a fire, San Diego police and fire officials said Tuesday.

The fire broke out in the 1800 block of Mendota Street just after noon Monday and was put out a short time later, causing about $70,000 in damage, San Diego police and Fire-Rescue officials said.

Authorities found the marijuana plants in the garage after the fire was extinguished, police officials said. The pot was not burned.

The fire was apparently started when someone set fire to a carport next to the home's garage, fire officials said.
