CARLSBAD, Calif. -- A memorial service was held Saturday afternoon for Eric Sears, the Carlsbad teenager who died while camping at Joshua Tree National Park.
The service started at 1 p.m. Saturday at Daybreak Community Church, 6515 Ambrosia Lane in Carlsbad.
The body of Eric, who would have turned 18 last Tuesday, was discovered July 23 by searchers at Joshua Tree National Park. He was reported missing from a campground in the park on July 15. Sears graduated from Carlsbad High School in June and was admitted to San Diego State University, where he planned to study engineering.
