SAN DIEGO -- The city of San Diego will soon be asked to consider a major dredging project at the Children's Pool in La Jolla, 10News reported. The plan calls for dredging 3,000 cubic yards of sand from the pool in order to clean up beach contamination, reportedly from the seals. The theory is, if the sand is gone most of the seals will go too. But, opponents say that is a bad idea."It's an absurd concept because the dredging itself and the amount of time it will take on the beach will cause the seals not to use the beach anymore and all of the 80,000 people who come here to watch each month would be dissapointed," said James Hudnall, of La Jolla Friends of the Seals.Proponents say the plan would allow seals and people to share the same area without barriers.A committee will consider the proposal Wednesday.
