It has been two months since 22-year-old sailor Edward Roth was tazed by police after they say he wreaked havoc on 14 cars at John Hine Mazda in Mission Valley.Police said Roth was caught on surveillance video bashing out windows and smashing cars."The damages were up in the $70,000 range," said Dave Miller, the general manager of John Hine Mazda.Miller told 10News the dealership paid between $1,000 and $3,500 to restore each of the vandalized vehicles after the rampage. This week, the dealership sent out an email promoting a dealership "vandalization sale.""We didn't take any shortcuts or say this one was damaged... the price is less because of that," said Miller. "We fixed them all."A Mazda 5 that had the back window smashed out was in the lot on Wednesday and selling for about $1,000 cheaper.Miller said it is good for the buyer but not for the dealership."You never know really what you've got in insurance until it comes down to it and with deductibles and everything," he said. "It was very, very costly for us. That's something we lost and may never get back."Miller said the dealership is focused on moving the remaining "restored inventory", which is now clearly marked with bright orange hang tags. However, he said the dealership will be upfront with the buyer by sharing every repair made and requiring the buyer sign off on a collage of pictures showing how each vehicle looked after the vandalism.
