3.0M quake strikes west of Borrego Springs

A 3.0 magnitude earthquake occurred southwest of the town of Borrego Springs in east San Diego County Saturday evening.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake struck at exactly 5 p.m. about nine miles southwest of Borrego Springs, and 21 miles northeast of San Diego Country Estates. It occurred at a depth of 7.1 miles.

There were no immediate reports of serious damage. As of 6 p.m., USGS said 21 people had reported feeling the quake.
