SAN DIEGO - A man was in custody in San Diego Friday, accused of carjacking three women at gunpoint with help from an accomplice who remained at large this morning, police said.

The carjacking in the 5100 block of Naranja Street in the Valencia Park neighborhood was reported at 10:21 p.m. on Thursday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

Two men in their 20s approached a woman in her 50s and her two female companions, who were in a Toyota, according to Delimitros.

The men forced the woman out of the Toyota at gunpoint, then drove off in the vehicle, he said.

Within minutes of the carjacking, an officer spotted the stolen car and took one man into custody. He was identified by one of the victims and arrested on suspicion of carjacking, according to Delimitros.

The other man was not found.
