SAN DIEGO -- The Rincon Indian Reservation is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of whoever is responsible for October's Paradise fire. State forestry officials have determined that arson caused the blaze, which killed two people, destroyed 221 homes and burned more than 56,000 acres. The fire began in the Paradise Creek area of the Rincon reservation Oct. 26 and quickly spread through North County before it was contained Nov. 7.
The Rincon Tribal Council authorized the reward. Anyone with information is urged to call the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's arson hotline at (800) 468-4408.
