Woman Accused In 2 Bank Robberies Arrested

SAN DIEGO -- A 31-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly robbing two San Diego banks in 10 days, the FBI announced Thursday.Jaquett Ebony Darby was taken into custody Tuesday on suspicion of robbing two U.S. Bank locations, one in North Park, and another in Rancho Penasquitos, the FBI said.Darby entered the U.S. Bank branch in the 3200 block of University Avenue about 11:20 a.m. July 9, wearing a green dress, sunglasses and a hat, the FBI said. She handed a teller a note stating, "Give me the money or die." After getting an undisclosed amount of money, she fled.In the other case, a robber entered the U.S. Bank in the 14000 block of Penasquitos Drive about 10 a.m. July 19, wearing the green dress and sunglasses, the FBI said. The robber also used a note that stated: "Money now or die." The teller complied and again she fled with an undisclosed sum.The FBI released surveillance photos from both robberies and asked for the public's help to identify the thief. Multiple people recognized Darby, which led to her identification, the FBI said.
