FALLBROOK, Calif. -- A 19-year-old Fallbrook student injured in a devastating car crash eight weeks ago received his high school diploma on Wednesday.Conrad Murphy's principal and teachers presented him his diploma at Palomar Medical Center a day after his classmates celebrated their graduation at Valley Center High School. In April, Murphy was driving to baseball practice on Highway 76 just east of Gird Road when an oncoming pest control truck swerved and collided head-on with his truck.Murphy was taken to the hospital in critical condition with a brain injury, broken neck, broken pelvis and a collapsed lung."Where he's at now is tremendous," said Conrad's older brother Clark.Less than eight weeks after the crash, Conrad is moving and talking again. He said he could not have done it without the support of his family which includes his parents, two sisters and brother Clark.Clark is a professional baseball player with the Texas Rangers. The team gave Clark a leave of absence so he could help Conrad with his recovery. On Tuesday night, Clark received Conrad's diploma for him at Valley Center High School's graduation ceremony. The same diploma was delivered to Conrad on Wednesday at the hospital where he will likely remain for a few more weeks. He also received a baseball bat signed by his entire senior class."Just seeing him from the first couple of days he was here to today, it's just… overwhelming," said Valley Center High School Principal Ron McCowan.A benefit concert is scheduled for next month to help the Murphy's cover his medical bills. For more information about the concert, click here.
