A man who died after he collided with a truck while riding his bicycle on Friars Road was identified Sunday as Marberry Ben Acree, 60, of San Diego, according to the Medical Examiner's office.

Acree, alongside another bicyclist, was riding east on Friars Road shortly before noon on Saturday when he collided with a truck, according to the Medical Examiner's report.

The crash occurred where the offramp from northbound Interstate 15 merges onto eastbound Friars Road, according to the California Highway Patrol and Officer Frank Cali of the San Diego Police Department.

Acree was flung to the ground and run over by the truck at 11:50 a.m., Cali said. Acree died there at 12:12 p.m. despite medical personnel's efforts to revive him.

Satellite photos indicate the bicycle lane runs along Friars Road as the ramp merges across it into travel lanes. The medical report did not say if any citations had been issued.
