SAN DIEGO -- Catching the person or persons responsible for a series of suspected eco-terrorist fires comes with a $25,000 reward, 10News reported.
On Sept. 19, several fires were set at three under-construction houses in the Carmel Valley and Rancho Penasquitos area. And on Aug. 1, an unfinished five-story apartment complex in the University Town Center area was set ablaze. No one was hurt in any of the fires.
The San Diego City Council voted 6-3 in favor of using money from the city's general fund to find the arsonists.
A radical environmental group calling itself the Earth Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for both fires, and for numerous other fires and acts of vandalism in California and across the country.
If you have any information about the fires, call the local FBI office at (858) 565-1255.
Meanwhile, the County Board of Supervisors Tuesday officially condemned vandalism and arson by militant environmental groups as acts of "eco-terrorism."
"Although militant environmental organizations such as the ELF portray their actions and beneficial to the environment," Board Chair Greg Cox said, "setting large- scale fires is nothing more than eco-terrorism with serious impacts to the region's air and water quality."
