SAN DIEGO -- At least four people were injured Wednesday, two seriously, when a sedan being chased by police skidded out of control at high speed and collided with another vehicle at a North County intersection.The roughly 10-minute chase began shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, as an officer responded to a report of a green Honda Accord being driven recklessly through Carlsbad while its occupants hurled debris out at passing vehicles, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.The 17-year-old male driver of the Accord failed to yield to the officer on northbound Interstate 5 at Cannon Road, and the pursuit ensued, Carlsbad police Lt. Marc Reno said.The teen motorist exited the freeway at Carlsbad Village Drive, hitting a sign on the off-ramp along the way before speeding off eastbound on Carlsbad Village Drive, Reno said.At Carlsbad Village Drive and Monroe Street, the Honda crashed into another vehicle that was stopped for a red light, Reno said, adding that the woman in the other vehicle was flown to Palomar Medical Center.At least two people were flown by Mercy Air to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, and the driver of the Jeep and the second passenger of the Honda were taken to Palomar Medical Center.Police said they discovered drug paraphernalia in the green sedan, but have not determined if the occupants were under the influence.Do you have more information about this story?
