Bomb Squad Blows Up Pipe Bomb In Rolando
Device Found In 3900 block of Vista Grande Drive

ROLANDO, Calif. -- The bomb squad blew up a pipe bomb in the Rolando area on Wednesday, prompting the evacuation of an entire neighborhood.The suspicious device was reported at around 8 p.m. in the middle of the street in the 3900 block of Vista Grande Drive in Rolando, prompting the evacuation of 60 residents.The device, which was blown up by a robot around 9:45 p.m., was confirmed to be a pipe bomb.Authorities said a car drove by and tossed out a FedEx box, which was reportedly connected to wires and a cell phone. ATF agents and the FBI were called to assist.As of 11:30 p.m., police officers and bomb technicians continued to search the area for any other pieces of evidence.
