VISTA, Calif. -- A 17-year-old boy accused of raping a girl after forcing her off a bike path at gunpoint as she walked to school in Escondido must stand trial on charges of forcible rape, robbery and aggravated kidnapping, a judge ruled Wednesday.Daniel Joseph Entzminger -- charged as an adult under California's "one-strike law" -- faces a maximum of 50 years to life in prison if convicted, said prosecutor Patrick Espinoza. After a morning-long preliminary hearing in Vista, Judge K. Michael Kirkman found that enough evidence was presented for Entzminger to stand trial on Oct. 26.Escondido police Lt. Craig Carter said the brazen attack took place at 8:30 a.m. on July 9 in an area where there would normally be a number of people walking along a path near a flood-control channel. When the suspect was arrested the next day, he was found to be in possession of items belonging to the victim, Carter said. The teenage girl was walking east along the path off North Ash Street and East Valley Parkway when she passed a male wearing a dirty T-shirt, dirty blue jeans and white-framed sunglasses, he said. When the girl looked back at him, he had pulled a black ski mask over his face and was running toward her with a drawn pistol. He put the gun to her ribs and ordered her into some nearby bushes, where he raped her, Carter said.
