1,500 North County SDG&E Customers Lose Power

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- About 1,500 coastal North County homes and businesses were without electrical service Wednesday morning due to an apparent problem with an overhead electrical system.The power outage began shortly before 4:30 a.m., stretching through parts of Carlsbad, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Encinitas, La Costa and Olivenhain, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.Power was restored to about 800 addresses by 7:30 a.m., and the rest were back on line as of midday, the utility reported.
