SAN DIEGO -- Imagine being a kid and having your hobby become a character in a video game. A Sabre Springs third-grader, who loves to skateboard, is showing off his skills in a Disney video game.
Ryan Hollerman is getting pretty good at skate boarding.
"I'm not too good on the tricks because I can't quite do an ollie, but now I can do an ollie -- and an ollie and a pop shove -- that's really all. Oh, and a kick flip," Hollerman said.
But he's good enough to be in Disney's "Extreme Skate Adventure" video game. Hollerman said it is fun to see how he looks in animation.
"He does act like me a lot. When he falls down he runs around a lot and holds his butt," Hollerman, (pictured, right), said about his animated character. "But they didn't, like, do things that I can actually do. I'm more of a beginner. I can't really do all this."
One of the high points for Hollerman was meeting his skateboarding hero.
"I wanna grow up like Tony Hawk and give my money away to charity and stuff. I just wanna be a skateboarder because it's a fun job and I get paid lots of money. I'd have my own half-pipe, too," Hollerman told 10News.
Sometimes it takes more than skill -- it becomes a way of life.
"Skateboarding is my life, dudes," Hollerman said.
When Hollerman is not honing his skills in his own driveway, he is probably practicing at the Ocean Beach skate park.
