Crews Put Out 20-Acre East County Brush Fire
Fire Reported On Honey Springs Road, North Of State Route 94

JAMUL, Calif. -- Firefighters quickly stopped the spread of a 20-acre brush fire started Sunday by a traffic collision north of Jamul and Dulzura in East County, according to Cal Fire.The blaze was reported about 1:30 p.m. on Honey Springs Road, about 14 miles north of state Highway 94, and by 3 p.m. its spread was stopped, said Roxanne Provaznik, a spokeswoman for Cal Fire.No structures were damaged by the fire. The San Diego Sheriff's Department, U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service helped fight the flames.About 150 firefighters responded to the blaze, along with 14 engines, four fire crews, two bulldozers, two helicopters, two air tankers and three water tenders, Provaznik said.
