Police searched Monday for a man who attempted to rob an Otay Mesa home with two other men.

The men forced their way into a home on the 600 block of Norstad Avenue around 8 a.m. Sunday and demanded cash, said Sgt. Ramona Hastings of the San Diego Police Department.

A person in the home called the police, and police officers who responded to the call found a man sitting in a vehicle in front of the house, Hastings said.

As police were arresting the man in the car, the two robbery suspects came out the front door of the house, she said. When they saw the police, the two suspects ran back into the house and out the back door.

Police chased the men and caught one of them in the backyard of a home on the 3700 block of Byrd Street, Hastings said.

The third man who got away is described as black, tall and thin, according to police.
