POSTED: 12:25 pm PDT September 3, 2010

A 66-year-old woman who tried to cross a busy street in Tierrasanta was struck by a car Friday and died at a hospital, a San Diego police sergeant said.

The woman, whose name was not released, tried to cross the 11200 block of Tierrasanta Boulevard around 8:45 a.m. when she was struck by a 2001 Chrysler sedan, Sgt. Ray Battrick said.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries, Battrick said.

The driver of the sedan stopped at the scene, and alcohol was not a factor in the accident, he said.
