SAN DIEGO -- Most of the San Diego State University campus remained without air conditioning Wednesday, the result of a water main break earlier in the week.Non-essential employees were given the day off Wednesday, for the second day in a row.The water main broke Monday night, sending water gushing toward the dome area of Love Library, but quick work by emergency crews kept damage to a minimum, said university spokeswoman Gina Jacobs.Air conditioning remained out to 90 percent of the campus, but the Gateway Center, Alumni Center, athletic facilities and dormitories were unaffected, Jacobs said.Students are scheduled to move into the dorms beginning Friday, and school is set to start Monday.Jacobs said an emergency contract was issued to repair the system, work which should be completed Friday.
