Crews Handle Lakeside Brush Fire

LAKESIDE, Calif. -- A brush fire that broke out in the Lakeside area and prompted several home evacuations was quickly controlled by fire crews, according to dispatchers.Dispatchers said the fire broke out shortly after 5:30 p.m. on San Vicente Avenue at Rocky Lane, near the San Vicente Reservoir.The fire prompted the evacuation of several homes and threatened several other structures, dispatchers said.Air tankers were initially summoned to help battle the blaze, but ground crews were able to take control of the fire without additional support.
