SAN DIEGO -- A 51-year-old man is in custody Wednesday, accused of attempting to kidnap a 10-year-old girl as she walked home from Zamorano Elementary School in Bay Terraces, police said.Diamonn Graham and her 12-year-old brother, Damon, were walking in the 7300 block of Tooma Street about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday when they were approached by Christopher Dean Riley, said SDPD Sgt. David Jennings.Diamonn told 10News, "I saw this guy. He tried to snatch me. He fist-bumped my brother, then he fist-bumped me, then he grabbed my wrist and tried to pull me."Damon jumped into the situation and said, "I felt my sister jerk away from me, so I turned around and seen him like pulling her. So I ran behind my sister, grabbed her by the stomach and I started pulling her and said, 'Let go of my sister.'"The pair broke free and ran home to tell their mother, who then hopped into a car and tracked Riley down. Ava Graham spotted Riley at Bay Terraces Community Park on Tooma Street and called police on her cell phone."He approached the car, tried to have my son roll down the window while I was on the phone with the dispatcher. I advised the dispatcher what was going on and he peeked through the window, pointed at my daughter and started to a laugh. I used some choice words … told him to get away from my car and he continued to laugh at me," Graham told 10News.A patrol car soon arrived and officers took Riley into custody in the vicinity of where the alleged kidnapping attempt took place.Riley was booked on charges of attempted kidnapping, battery and annoying a child. He remains in jail under $100,000 bail.
