Police Search For Balboa Park Flasher

Man Exposed Himself To At Least 2 Women, Police Say

UPDATED: 3:59 pm PDT May 7, 2010

A man who exposed himself to at least two women in Balboa Park was at large Friday, a San Diego police lieutenant said.

The first reported sighting of the flasher was about 12:30 p.m. April 20, when a woman jogging near the north end of the park passed a man sitting on a curb, out of view of street traffic, with his pants down and one of his hands in his lap. He made eye contact with the woman but did not say anything, said SDPD Lt. Dawn Summers.

The woman kept running and warned another female jogger about the man before calling the police.

She said the man was black and had on baggy jeans, a black waist-length zippered rain jacket, dark-colored sneakers and a black-and-purple baseball cap.

Police created a computer-generated rendering of the man based on the description.

On April 24, another jogger encountered a flasher on a trail near the 2800 block of Balboa Drive, police said.

The jogger continued on her way, then borrowed a cell phone to report the man, Summers said.

She did not wait for officers to arrive, but also said the man was black during her 911 call.

Anyone with information about the man was asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
