A 31-year-old bar employee was killed Tuesday when he crashed his motorcycle on an elevated Mission Valley freeway connector and plunged about 150 feet into a parking lot, authorities said.

Timothy Kalista, address unknown, lost control of the two-wheeler while riding down the towering ramp from northbound Interstate 805 to westbound I-8 shortly before 1:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol and county Medical Examiner's Office.

Kalista hit a guardrail and was ejected off the motorcycle and over the edge of the bridge. He landed in a parking area outside a restaurant in the 2800 block of Camino del Rio South.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, the CHP reported.
