Motorist Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI

SAN DIEGO -- A collision at a Balboa Park intersection Friday left a motorcyclist dead and a motorist under arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, police reported.The 36-year-old motorcyclist was southbound on Florida Drive when an eastbound 2005 Volvo sedan pulled out in his path at Zoo Place about 1 p.m., according to San Diego police.The resulting crash hurled the motorcyclist onto the roadway, where a second vehicle struck him, SDPD Sgt. Ray Battrick said. The rider, whose name was withheld pending notification of his family, died at the scene.
The driver of the Volvo was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter, Battrick said. His name was not immediately available.
