Authorities Friday released the name of 29-year-old Arizona woman who was struck and killed by a tour bus in the Marina district.

Virginia Ortega of Glendale, Ariz., stepped in front of the bus at West Harbor Drive and Pacific Highway around 4:40 p.m. Thursday, said San Diego police Officer David Stafford and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

She was taken to UCSD Medical Center, where she died in surgery at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, the Medical Examiner's office reported on its Web site.

No one on the tour bus was injured, Stafford said, adding that there are signs in the area warning pedestrians not to cross at that intersection.

Ortega was single and in San Diego to visit family, according to the Medical Examiner's Office.
