Caltrans To Close I-15 Lanes Thursday Evening
Northbound, Southbound I-15 To Shut Down Due To Express Lanes Project

SAN DIEGO -- Caltrans officials said Interstate 15 near the Poway Road/Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard bridge will be closed in both directions Thursday evening.The closure will take place from 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., and officials said the closure is due to continuing construction on the bridge as part of the I-15 Express Lanes project.Travelers taking northbound I-15 will be detoured east on Poway Road to north on Sabre Springs Parkway to east on Ted Williams Parkway onto northbound I-15.Those traveling southbound on I-15 will be detoured west on State Route 56 (SR-56) to south on Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard to southbound I-15.Caltrans said eastbound and westbound State Route 56 connectors to southbound I-15 will be closed during the project. Those traveling on SR-56 to southbound I-15 will be detoured via Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard onto southbound I-15. Detour signs will be in place to direct motorists.Officials said the Poway Road/Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard bridge over I-15 will also be closed beginning at 9 p.m. and reopening at 5 a.m. Friday.Motorists on westbound Poway Road will be detoured north on I-15 to west on SR-56 onto eastbound Rancho Penasquitos Boulevard or westbound Carmel Mountain Road. Motorists traveling east on Rancho Peñasquitos Boulevard will be detoured south on I-15 to east on Mercy Road to north on I-15 onto eastbound Poway Road.
