Keys Left At Burglary Scene Lead To Arrests

LA MESA, Calif. -- Two brothers are in custody Monday after they accidentally left their keys behind while burglarizing a car rental business in La Mesa, police said.The dropped set of keys were a vital piece of evidence in the arrests Saturday of Jeffrey Gwin, 31, and Justin Gwin, 34, said La Mesa police Lt. David Bond.The men allegedly burglarized Enterprise Car Rental in the 8400 block of Center Street around 1:40 a.m. Saturday. Officers responding to an alarm at the business found keys to a car parked nearby, Bond said.Early Saturday afternoon, two search warrants were served at a motel room and residence in La Mesa and the men were arrested, Bond said.The younger Gwin lives in Arizona, while his brother lives in La Mesa, Bond said, adding both were booked into county jail on suspicion of commercial burglary.
