Fire Damages San Diego Auto Gallery

SAN DIEGO -- A fire damaged the attic of a Grantville auto dealership Sunday, but no one was hurt, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.The blaze was reported around 12:50 p.m. at the San Diego Auto Gallery at 6052 Mission Gorge Road, and heavy smoke was pouring from the roof of the building when firefighters arrived, a dispatcher said.Flames were extinguished within a half-hour, according to the dispatcher.Police closed several lanes of the busy roadway in front of the dealership, which specializes in BMWs and other European makes.The loss was estimated by fire officials to be $100,000 to the building and $20,000 to its contents.The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
