SAN DIEGO -- A small airplane carrying three passengers landed safely Sunday after circling Montgomery Field because of landing gear problems.The San Diego Fire-Rescue Department was called around 11:10 a.m. to the general aviation airport on Kearny Mesa, and the Piper Cherokee touched down about a half-hour later, a dispatcher said.The pilot was able to lower the gear during that time, as he circled the field.
