Man Steals Dog Because He Didn't Like How It Was Being Walked
Carlsbad Police: German Shepherd Worth $1,200

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- Carlsbad police are searching Friday for a man who snatched another man's German shepherd because he did not approve of the way the dog was being walked.The dog was taken in the 2700 block of Haymar Drive around 7:35 p.m. Thursday, according to Carlsbad police Lt. Jay Eppel.The dog's owner told officer he was exercising the dog by driving slowly while the animal walked next to the car on a leash when the other man approached and grabbed the dog's leash, Eppel said.The other man then told the victim it was illegal to walk a dog that way and put the German shepherd into his vehicle before telling the victim that if he wanted his dog back he should call Oceanside police, Eppel said.Carlsbad police called Oceanside police after the robbery was reported and could not locate the dog, which is valued at $1,200, Eppel said.Eppel described the suspect as white and around 30 years old, with brown hair and a medium build. He drove a newer model pickup truck with a camper shell, according to the lieutenant.
