Deputies Seek Man Who Allegedly Followed Girl

SPRING VALLEY, Calif. -- Authorities Thursday were investigating a report from a 10-year-old East County girl who said a suspicious-looking man has been following her to and from school in recent weeks, a sheriff's official said.The child, a pupil at Kempton Street Elementary in Spring Valley, told investigators the stranger had trailed her on various occasions since Feb. 22 as she walked to and from the campus, Lt. Anthony Ray said.She described the man as white or Hispanic, in his mid-30s to early 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and thin, according to Ray.The girl, who came forward Wednesday, told detectives she didn't report the incidents earlier because she was afraid, the lieutenant said.
